Vein Removal for Men:
Vein removal or lightening is popular in Men of all ages. Men are becoming increasingly conscious about the way they look, meaning procedures to remove unattractive varicose veins and spider veins, are becoming more common.
Varicose veins and spider veins can be removed and minimized in a vein removal procedure. As the procedure is straightforward and safe, more and more men are seeking out treatment. There are various different methods to remove unwanted varicose and spider veins. The most popular options are diathermy and Variable Pulse Light (VPL).
Varicose veins and spider veins: How do they develop?
Veins tend to swell when blood is not circulating properly, increasing visibility. Varicose veins are larger than normal veins. They usually develop on the thighs and legs. Visible veins that are smaller and clustered are called spider veins or telangiectasias. They generally appear on the face, ankles and feet, but can also develop on other parts of the body. Varicose and spider veins are more commonly seen in old age and pregnant women, although, they can occur at any age.
Treating varicose veins
Varicose veins are usually harmless and are considered as a cosmetic issue. Although, they do not require immediate attention, a complication can sometimes develop. This may include blood clots, bleeding and ulceration, all requiring immediate medical care. Treatments for varicose veins and spider veins may consist of leg elevation, compression stockings, sclerotherapy (injection of vein-scarring solution), surgery or vein stripping and laser therapy.

Vein removal for men: Diathermy
Diathermy is a treatment that is used to remove spider veins and several other types of skin complaints including wrinkles, skin pigmentation, red spots and skin tags. The procedure involves using a fine needle to tap along the affected area of skin. A small about of heat is applied, cauterizing the vein and removing it.
Anaesthetic cream can be applied before the procedure to minimize discomfort. During the treatment process, a mild stinging sensation may felt due to the heat being applied, leaving the affected area feeling warm for a short while. A few days after the procedure a fine crust will develop, which completely heals within a few weeks.Diathermy as a treatment for vein removal is quick, effective and permanent – unwanted veins will not return once they have been removed.
Vein removal for men: Variable Pulsed Light (VPL)
Variable pulsed light therapy can be used to remove hair, veins and to rejuvenate skin. The VPL machine emits controlled rapid pulses of light that are then absorbed by the superficial layers of skin. VPL therapy breaks down the waste products that can be found in veins, which helps to remove them. Once the VPL has been absorbed, the energy also promotes healthy blood circulation and helps drain waste products.
VPL thearpy is a non-invasive and painless treatment. During the procedure, the applicator is positioned on top of the vein to ensure that there is ample absorption and even coverage. Once the VPL therapy is completed, the unwanted veins begin to heal, greatly improving the appearance of the affected area of skin.
VPL therapy is an effective treatment for permanent vein removal. Results can sometimes vary for different individuals. Some may find they achieve a full removal after a few sessions, while others find they need more treatments to see the same results.
